About

Evelyn Hudson 1916
Wearing Scottish Borderers Uniform
This blog is named in honour of my great grandmother, Evelyn Hudson. Although I never meet her, she was the one who inspired me to start researching WW1. This came about after I inherited a postcard album which once belonged to her. Within the album's pages were photographs of her brothers and neighbours, many of whom were killed during The Great War, this realisition motivated me to begin researching.

I have two dedicated WW1 blogs; Wombwell 1914 -1918 and Goldthorpe and the Great War, which focus solely on the causalities of war from those areas. However, during the course of my research I've come across many other interesting historical events that I'd like to share; Not wanting to take my other sites off topic I created this blog, which I will use as an outlet to share my other research as well as other things, such as contemporary exhibitions on The First World War.
